The data we collect

  • Your first name, to greet you in the app.
  • Your onboarding answers: goal, difficulties with English, level, preferred time for the reminder.
  • Your progress: episodes read, answers to questions, position in the audio.
  • Your word notebook and the state of your reviews.
  • Your sign-in identifier if you link your account to Apple or Google (a technical identifier and, depending on what you accept, your email address).
  • Your subscription status (trial, active, expired), provided by the App Store.
  • Anonymized usage measurements: screens viewed, episodes completed. We use them only to improve the app.

We do not collect your location, your contacts, your photos or your microphone. There is no advertising and we never sell your data.

Why we use it

  • To make the app work: offer you the right level, resume your reading, manage your notebook and your reviews.
  • To manage your subscription.
  • To send you the daily reminder, if you have turned it on (a notification on your phone).
  • To understand how the app is used, in order to improve it.

Our service providers

  • Supabase (hosted in Ireland, European Union): database and sign-in.
  • RevenueCat: subscription management.
  • PostHog (hosted in the United States): usage measurements, without session recording or IP address.
  • Apple: payment, “Sign in with Apple”.
  • Google: “Continue with Google” sign-in.

These providers process data only on our behalf. For transfers outside the European Union, they rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, it is immediately erased from our database. Anonymized usage measurements are kept for a maximum of 12 months.

Your rights

You can access, correct or delete your data at any time.

  • Delete your account: in the app, Profile › My account › Delete my account. All your data is erased. Remember to also cancel your subscription in the App Store settings, as Apple manages it separately.
  • For any other request: colpaertmatthias@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days.

You can also file a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).

If you live outside France, you can also contact the data protection authority in your country.

Children

Finn is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
